A DePass Studio original! This wonderful class is designed for children who want to dance but are not quite old enough to join a ballet class. The instructor uses games, stories, and songs to teach balance, rhythm, movement, coordination, and basic ballet steps. This class does not perform in the Spring Recital, but does participate in Parents’ Observation Week.
Basic ballet skills, terminology, rhythm, and coordination are taught, practiced, and developed through creative movement, music, and mime in a supportive and supervised environment.
This is a combination class including ballet and tap technique. Basic rhythm and tap choreography, as well as the foundations of ballet, will be taught.
This is a Saturday morning class specially created for students and their parents who prefer a ballet technique class.
Fundamentals of ballet, including terminology and proper placement, are taught in these classes which are divided according to age.
Ballet technique classes for students 7+. By participating in the first levels of traditional ballet training, students learn concentration and endurance and become proficient in fundamental dance movement and ballet technique. The class level placement is determined by the faculty.
Students in these Intermediate levels may take Pointe with the permission of the instructor.
These classes are for adult students who have had previous ballet experience (not for beginners).
These classes teach rhythm, coordination, basic tap terminology and choreography.
This class teaches intermediate level rhythm, coordination, tap terminology, and choreography.
This technique class will focus on faster and more intricate footwork. The dancer at this level will develop speed, clarity, dynamics, and the ability to execute to complex rhythmic combinations. Students will put the fundamentals to work by learning new steps, rhythms, patterns, and combinations.
This is an open level tap class designed for adults.
These classes combine basic jazz technique and fun, upbeat music and choreography (with no suggestive lyrics/movements) to develop the dancers’ coordination, rhythm, flexibility, and self-expression.
Lyrical is a fusion of ballet, jazz, and modern, with expressive motions that tell a story. These classes blend the sustained, controlled movement of ballet with the freedom, power, and dynamics of jazz and modern. Students will learn lyrical technique along with freedom of expression and interpretation of music.
These upbeat classes teach Broadway-style choreography, show-stopping stage presence, and acting, with a focus on learning song-and-dance numbers from a variety of musical productions, past and present.
